The Subject I Like Best

On the subjects I have to study at school I like English best. I am interested in language. I love to study the way language works. Nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and the way they combine to make sentences look very interesting to me. Then I compare the English language with my mother language. Words are different and the way they work in the sentence is different in the two languages. This also interests me.

When you are interested in a subject of study, you enjoy working at it. It becomes a pleasure, not a difficulty. English grammar rules come to be very simple things to me, I change present tense into past tense or active voice into passive with ease. Because I know grammar I write very well too. My essays are always marked "G” or “VG”. The reading texts pose no problem to me either. Certain words I may not know but I know the over-all meaning of the study or stories. So I can easily answer the questions on the text. I always gain a distinction in English in the examinations.

My Knowledge of English is a great help to me in my other studies. I am a science student. I have to learn mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, all of which are taught in English. While most of my friends have trouble trying to find out what the textbooks say, I read them as I read a story and understand what it is all about. I have just to memorize the teams, the definitions, the theories, and that is all. Outside the classroom, too. English is a great help. I can read comics and magazines in English and watch English films.
